Great Ife Alumni Association Releases Guidelines For 2023 Elections

As part of activities lined up for the 2023 Biennial Convention of Great Ife Alumni Association, the Electoral Committee of the foremost Association in Nigeria recently released notification of elections into various global positions of the Association. Find herewith body of the notification:

*NOTIFICATION OF ELECTIONS* 

Great ife!

As you are aware, and in line with the constitution of Great Ife Alumni Association, the tenure of the current Global Executive Committee shall come to an end by May 2023 during our Biennial Convention. Consequently, all Executive Committee positions will become vacant and open for contest among members. 


Eligible financial members are therefore requested, through this notification, to formally express their interest in any of the GEC positions by informing and collecting nomination forms through their branch Chairmen upon payment of the nomination fee for each position. 


Nomination forms shall be available at the GEC Quarter 1 Meeting coming up on the 24th March 2023 at Oshogbo. 

The available GEC positions are as presented below: 

I ), Global President 

II),7 Global Vice presidents 1 each 

 from Zones (A, B, C, D, Ẹ, F,, G) 

III ), Global General Secretary

IV,), Global first 1(st) Assistant General Secretary

V), Second (2nd) Global Assistant General Secretary

VI), Global Treasurer 

VII), Global Financial Secretary 

VIII), Global Social and Welfare Secretary 

IX), Global Editor-in- Chief 

X), Global Legal Adviser 

XI), Global Deputy Legal Adviser 

XII), Global Publicity Secretary 

XIII), Global Internal Auditor 

XIV), Seven (7) Global Ex officio Members one from each zone (A, B, C, D, Ẹ, F, G) 

All branch Chairmen are hereby implored to give this notification very wide publicity on their platforms and at their branch meetings. They should be ready to collect Nomination Forms at the Quarter 1 (Q1) GEC meeting in March for onward distribution to interested members. 

Guidelines and modalities for the election are as specified in the Global constitution.

Ife Alumni Condemns Killing, Demands Justice

The attention of the Global Executive Council (GEC), Great Ife Alumni Association has been drawn to the killing of Okoli Chizoputam, a final year student of the Department of Civil Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, by mob action of angry students over alleged theft of phone. GEC condemns the dastardly act in its entirety. According to a release by the Global Publicity Secretary, Great Ife Alumni Association, Akeem Amodu, the Global Executive Council of the Association not only viewed the killing as unjust, extra-judicial and barbaric but also constitutes a violation of the fundamental rights of Okoli Chizoputam to fear hearing.
