OAU Alumni Celebrates Former President At 70

Foremost veteran journalist, Public Relations practitioner and former President of Nigeria’s foremost Alumni Association, Wole Olaoye turns 70. Wole Olaoye remains till date an impactful alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. A former President of Great Ife Alumni Association, Wole Olaoye continues to play active roles in the affairs of the Alumni Association whose members spread across the globe, disciplines and professions.

A prolific writer and Media Consultant, Agbaakin Wole Olaoye is the Chief Executive Officer of Abuja-based Diametrics Ltd. and author of several articles which reflect on the state the Nigerian nation and the way forward for sustainable development. Some of his recent analytic reflections include Nigeria: Who The Cap Fits; and, Nigeria: The Democratization of Ignorance.

In his congratulatory message to the Alumni icon, the Global President, Great Ife Alumni Association, Engr. Wale Olaleye FNSE, described Wole Olaoye as a rare alumnus who continued to promote the interest of his Alma Mater decades after he left the institution.

You will recollect that Wole Olaleye was once the President of the Students Union Government (SUG), Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria.

As friends at home and abroad celebrate Wole Olaoye at 70, the Global President Great Ife Alumni Association prayed for even more happy years ahead for the Aare Agbaakin of Oke-Ila, Osun State, Nigeria.

Ife Alumni Condemns Killing, Demands Justice

The attention of the Global Executive Council (GEC), Great Ife Alumni Association has been drawn to the killing of Okoli Chizoputam, a final year student of the Department of Civil Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, by mob action of angry students over alleged theft of phone. GEC condemns the dastardly act in its entirety. According to a release by the Global Publicity Secretary, Great Ife Alumni Association, Akeem Amodu, the Global Executive Council of the Association not only viewed the killing as unjust, extra-judicial and barbaric but also constitutes a violation of the fundamental rights of Okoli Chizoputam to fear hearing. Ife Law Alumnus Emerges 12th Unilorin VC

The Governing Council, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, recently announced Prof Wahab Egbewole SAN, an Alumnus of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, as the 12th Vice Chancellor of the University.
