GREAT IFE ILORIN HOSTS MAIDEN MEETING

The foremost Alumni body in Nigeria, Great Ife Alumni Association records another milestone as the Association adds to its increasing number of branches, the Ilorin Branch in Kwara State, Nigeria. At the Ilorin Branch maiden meeting  held on Sunday 29th January 2023 at the Vice Chancellor's Lodge, University of Ilorin, the host, Great Prof. Wahab Egbewole appreciated the coming together of Greats in Ilorin. 

The President, Great Ife Alumni Association, Engr. Wale Olaleye FNSE appreciated the founding fathers of Ilorin Chapter for keying in to the vision of the Association to continually deepen and harness the network of Ife graduates for the development of their alma mata, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria.

The Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, was particularly delighted to host dignitaries who graced the epoch making maiden meeting, which includes, among others, Barr. Yusuf Alli SAN, Esv. O. J. A. Saibu FNIVS, and the Interim Chairman, Great Ife Alumni Association, Ilorin Chapter, Prof. Raji. 

The Ilorin maiden meeting of the Association was also graced by distinguished members from sister branches which includes Barr. Leye Falode, former Osogbo Branch Chairman, Builder Akinjogbin Israel, Ede Branch Chairman and Mr. Yinka Odewale, Osogbo Branch Chairman. 

The Global Executive Council, Great Ife Alumni Association congratulates Great Ife worldwide and the entire members of the Ilorin Branch, in particular, on the historic meeting.

Ife Alumni Condemns Killing, Demands Justice

The attention of the Global Executive Council (GEC), Great Ife Alumni Association has been drawn to the killing of Okoli Chizoputam, a final year student of the Department of Civil Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, by mob action of angry students over alleged theft of phone. GEC condemns the dastardly act in its entirety. According to a release by the Global Publicity Secretary, Great Ife Alumni Association, Akeem Amodu, the Global Executive Council of the Association not only viewed the killing as unjust, extra-judicial and barbaric but also constitutes a violation of the fundamental rights of Okoli Chizoputam to fear hearing. Ife Law Alumnus Emerges 12th Unilorin VC

The Governing Council, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, recently announced Prof Wahab Egbewole SAN, an Alumnus of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, as the 12th Vice Chancellor of the University. Prof Wahab Egbewole SAN, a 1984 Law Graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, according to the Council, emerged Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, following a rigorous selection process which commenced as far back as March 2022.
