Great Ife Alumni Association Restates Commitment To OAU

The leadership of Great Ife Alumni Association has restated commitment to the development of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Speaking during a recent courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. A. S. Bamire, the Global President Great Ife Alumni Association, Engr. Wale Olaleye (FNSE) assured the Vice Chancellor of the continued support of the Alumni Association to the institution. 

Prof. A. S. Bamire thanked the Global Executive Committee and the entire members of the Association, home and abroad, for the visible and sustainable impact the Association has made on OAU over the decades. The Vice Chancellor urged the Association not to relent on its laudable vision of  giving developmental support to the University as OAU continues to grow in terms of population and academic programs, among others. 

You will recall that Prof. A. S. Bamire, a 1985 Agricultural Economics Alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, was recently inaugurated the 12th Substantive Vice-Chancellor of the sixty years old institution.

Ife Alumni Condemns Killing, Demands Justice

The attention of the Global Executive Council (GEC), Great Ife Alumni Association has been drawn to the killing of Okoli Chizoputam, a final year student of the Department of Civil Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, by mob action of angry students over alleged theft of phone. GEC condemns the dastardly act in its entirety. According to a release by the Global Publicity Secretary, Great Ife Alumni Association, Akeem Amodu, the Global Executive Council of the Association not only viewed the killing as unjust, extra-judicial and barbaric but also constitutes a violation of the fundamental rights of Okoli Chizoputam to fear hearing. Ife Law Alumnus Emerges 12th Unilorin VC

The Governing Council, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, recently announced Prof Wahab Egbewole SAN, an Alumnus of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, as the 12th Vice Chancellor of the University. Prof Wahab Egbewole SAN, a 1984 Law Graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, according to the Council, emerged Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, following a rigorous selection process which commenced as far back as March 2022.
